Strap in for a ride of Olympic proportions this morning as we talk to four athletes who successfully reached the pinnacle of their sport, and who continue to excel and contribute to community through their involvement with RBC’s Olympian Program. We’re thrilled to speak with Sylvia Kerfoot, RBC Community Marketing Advisor, and long-time member of the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team (moguls); and to hear the compelling stories of Scott Dickens, a member of the Canadian National Swim Team; Andrea Holmes, a Summer and Winter ParaOlympian; and Kristi Richards, a member of Canada’s Freestyle Ski Team.

We wade into the issue of Aboriginal inclusion during the 1st of 3 shows over the next several weeks with the Aboriginal Human Resources Council (AHRC). Kelly Lendsay, President & CEO of the AHRC, and a powerful visionary, articulates why aboriginal inclusion is an economic necessity for Canadian business. He describes the ‘science’ behind how and why inclusion works and why Canadian business cannot afford to overlook the growing demographic of highly skilled, educated and motivated Indigenous youth.

We also delve into the current “IdleNoMore” movement and we talk about the need to break the chains of hate and misunderstanding that has enveloped the country for decades. We need each other, it’s as simple as that.

Backyard Philanthropist - February 2nd, 2013

Today we’re excited to talk with Brett Wilson, ex Dragon Den member, and an “entrepreneurial philanthropist”. Brett sets the bar for philanthropy, and his strong moral compass is always focused on doing what is right. He believes strongly that all students should study marketing, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Tune in to find out why. We’re also thrilled to be talking with Doug Burgoyne, founder of Frogbox, and one of Brett’s most successful “deals”. Frogbox offers a convenient, affordable and lower impact alternative to the $5 billion North American cardboard moving box industry. Frogbox also helps save frogs! Winding out the hour is Kevin Royes, inventor of the “Kelvin23”, another “deal” which Brett invested in. But more importantly, he has recently created “KidsinBiz”, a 10-day real life ‘soulcial’ business experience for kids, and very cool.
