Although the music on Jazz Sampler, Vol. 1 is great, the selections from
Miles Davis ("So What," "Saeta"),
Dave Brubeck ("Somewhere," "Take Five"),
Louis Armstrong ("I'm Crazy 'Bout My Baby," "Beale Street Blues"),
Count Basie ("Until I Met You"),
Billie Holiday ("You've Changed") and
Benny Goodman ("Lullaby of the Leaves," "Sing Sing Sing") don't necessarily sit well together. Nevertheless, it's not a bad budget-priced collection, and listeners that have absolutely no idea about jazz yet want to learn will get a general idea about the scope of the music from this collection. Anyone else will find this a little unnecessary.
