Album Review

The TK Years, a two-disc compilation, contains the entirety of KC & the Sunshine Band’s first five albums: Do It Good (1974), KC & the Sunshine Band (1975), Part 3 (1976), Who Do Ya Love (1978), and Do You Wanna Go Party (1979). When it was released by EMI U.K.’s stateside subsidiary, it went for the price of a midline release, and it was a decent value even as an import. Those who know only the hits -- like the number one R&B singles “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way I Like It,” "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” and “Keep It Comin’ Love,” all of which are included -- may be surprised that there is more depth to the group’s catalog.
