Combining the first two Shooting Star records means a bundle of Midwestern bang for one's buck here: Hang on for Your Life streamlines the Kansas City sextet into FM rockers, exemplified by the dust-kicking title track and the breakneck "Breakout." Two more fine songs, "Just Friends" and "Flesh and Blood," expose the tenderness behind the muscle. "Hollywood," "Tonight," and "Last Chance" are just plain unforgettable.
