John P. Kee has long had a vision for what contemporary gospel should sound like. He merged gospel with an urban R&B sound back in the 1980s when it was actually an innovative move, and if his work sounds secular, it isn’t -- it’s pure gospel.
The Legacy Project finds him collaborating with likeminded artists such as
Rance Allen,
Fred Hammond, and
Anthony Hamilton on a dozen gospel quartet pieces that somehow manage to sound as traditional as they do modern.
