Formed in Toronto in 1969 by organist/vocalist
Walter Zwolinsky (aka Zwol),
Brutus gradually included guitarist
Sonny Wingay, bassist
Sandy White, drummer
Len Sembaluk,
Bruce Gordon (trumpet, organ, guitar, bass) and
Bill Robb (saxophone, trombone). After two early singles, the band signed to GRT and released a self-titled debut in 1975. The band broke up not long after, but
Zwol pursued a solo career in the late '70s and later formed the band
Rage.
