Bassist Richard Davis built his reputation playing on essential sessions by numerous jazz legends including Sarah Vaughan, Eric Dolphy, Ahmad Jamal, and Elvin Jones. He also has a full discography under his own leadership. On this 1994 release, captured live three years earlier at Sweet Basil in New York, Davis assembled a first-rate band for a superior night of post-bop.
