Whether you love him or hate him, Bobby Womack is one hell of a soul singer. Grown out by his mentor Sam Cooke, Womack became one of the true stylists of his generation, and one of the few with staying power. Only Barry White and the late Curtis Mayfield could make the same claim. This 1996 EMI compilation features 15 tracks from Womack's most creative period, 1970-1975, and features one unreleased demo version of the classic "Across 110th Street."
