Review by Andrew Hamilton
Contains 18 Marv Johnson tracks originally produced by Britisher Ian Levine for Motor City and Nightmare Records. It features remakes of two tracks he recorded for Motown: "Come to Me" and "I'll Pick a Rose for My Rose." He does an admirable job on Curtis Mayfield's "Nothing Can Stop Me," also recorded by Gene Chandler and Major Lance. Includes an interesting rendition of The Miracles' "Whole Lot of Shakin' In My Heart," but excludes his equally infectious duet with Velvelettes lead singer Carolyn Gill on "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," and Nightmare single #105 "Run Like a Rabbit." This is pure Marv and not a bad job, featuring the single "By Hook or Crook," "Can't Take Another Day," "Paper Kisses," and more. Read More
