Part of a campaign led by British Universal MCA to finally reissue original LPs by classic Motown acts with the devotion they deserve, this two-fer combined 1966's On Top with the following year's Reach Out, as strong a pair of LPs as The Four Tops ever recorded. Though Motown never put together an album that ranked near the group's excellent singles, these two come very close (Reach Out especially), boasting a few excellent album tracks ("I Got a Feeling," "I'll Turn to Stone," "7-Rooms of Gloom") amidst the pop crossovers ("Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars," "Michelle," "I'm a Believer," "Cherish").
