The Session was done in London in 1972, at the tail end of the vogue for recording '50s rock & roll and blues stars with backup by a younger generation of British rock musicians. Although it wasn't a highlight of Lewis' career, it was actually, as hard as it might be to believe, his only album to reach the Top 40, also yielding a single that stopped just short of the Top 40 in his remake of Stick Mcghee's "Drinkin' Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee."
