CEMA's The Best Of Ike & Tina Turner covers the stints the duo spent with Sue in the early '60s and Liberty in the late '60s and early '70s. The first found them playing hopped-up R&B and having some hits like "A Fool in Love," "I Idolize You," and "It's Gonna Work Out Fine." The second phase found them breaking through to the rock audience; with the exception of the Phil Spector-produced "River Deep, Mountain High," the tunes here are hard-driving, rocked-out covers of hits like Ccr's "Proud Mary" and The Stones' "Honky Tonk Women."
