A fine songwriter and tasteful guitarist who possesses a strong, gritty voice, Bobby Womack has been turning out his brand of urban gospel-soul for more than 40 years, beginning with the single "Lookin' for a Love" in 1962. This stripped-down set has most of his truly essential sides, from "Lookin' for a Love" and its follow-up, "It's All Over Now" (later a hit for The Rolling Stones), to imaginative covers ("Fly Me to the Moon," "California Dreamin'"), his big early-'70s singles ("That's the Way I Feel About 'Cha," "Woman's Gotta Have It"), and his blaxploitation hit, "Across 110th Street," the title song from the film. Read More
