On a leave of absence from his brother's Tony Rice Unit, Wyatt Rice has put together a sextet featuring the talents of violinist Rickie Simpkins and mandolinist Ray Legere. Most of the material on New Market Gap is made up of traditional compositions or Bill Monroe songs, but the record has a surprisingly modern sound that's as much folk as it is traditional bluegrass. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
