A distinctive singer/songwriter, Jimmy Holiday co-wrote Jackie Deshannon's "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" but also recorded several hits of his own. While recording for Everest during the mid-'60s, he scored with 1963's "How Can I Forget," a Top Ten R&B hit and a pop entry as well. After moving to the New Orleans hit factory Minit by 1966, Holiday recorded a few moderate R&B hits during 1967 and 1968, but remains best-known for penning "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," a number four hit for DeShannon in 1969. ~ Richard Pack, All Music Guide
