The name Goldie is represented by a triumvirate of commercial breakthroughs in pop music, culminating with the electronica performer of the '90s. Prior to that it was Goldie & The Gingerbreads, a girl pop band from the '60s, and in the following decade a British group called just plain Goldie. With gold records and the general amassing of doolah such a big priority in rock music, it seems worth mentioning that the latter Goldie was actually named after a type of bird. It can be assumed that Dave Black, founder of the band, was following an inspiration similar to one of his earlier combos, Kestrel, also named after a winged species.
